AFTER FOUR SESSIONS:
Knowledge:
The client is now aware of the environmental factors that influence his hearing, for example: ambient noise, acoustics and distance. He can now deal with this. He is well aware of the existence of interest groups and useful websites.
Communication skills:
Specific attention is given, for example, to: light, distance, eye contact, posture and speech. Armed with specific discussion techniques, the client can now put these to use.
Job interview:
The correct approach and the client's abilities have been reviewed.
New job and colleagues:
Attention is paid to the pros and cons of a new job in combination with hearing loss, as well as to the importance of a conscious inviting attitude towards colleagues.
The client’s reaction:
His conclusion: "I now have a better insight; there are not only limitations but also ample opportunities. I am definitely more motivated about coping with my hearing loss and, if necessary, to be open about it. I can even contribute towards pleasant and workable communication in the workplace". |
